Harry Potter: A History of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Something truly magical is coming to the SKLO building at the end of November: Harry Potter: A History of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a spellbinding lecture which will be delivered by extraordinary professor Hetty Zock. Do you want to learn more about the origins of the sorcerer stone and explore the subjects taught at Hogwarts, including the defense against the dark arts and the care of magical creatures? Do you want to discover the traditions of witchery and folklore that are at the heart of the Harry Potter stories? Then don’t miss out on the opportunity to go to this bewitching evening!

Prof. Dr. Hetty Zock is an extraordinary professor at the University of Groningen. Her field of interest includes the psychology of religion, with particular attention to the domain of spiritual care. From the moment that the first novel in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published in 1997, she has also been an admirer of J.K. Rowling. Zock is especially intrigued by how Rowling’s books not only help us to escape our reality but at the same time learn us to live in it.
This activity is free of charge and will take place in the Nieuwe Kerk, Nieuwe Kerkhof 1 at 20.00.
