Inside the Martinikerk

24 maart 15:30 - 18:00

Ever had an opportunity to have a close look in the most beautiful corners of the Martini church? Ever walked inside the roof? (yes, that's possible!)

Join us for a sundayafternoon of ‘Jazz, culture and spirituality’
Some Jazz music students from Hanze’s Conservatoire will be playing for us.

You will have the opportunity to discover the churchbuilding and hear about it’s history and the role of spirituality in history and today.
One of the city's organists will let us hear what sound effects you can get out of the big organ inside.

You will hear a jazz improvisation of Billy Holliday's 'Strange fruit', an intense dramatic song about lynchings among black plantation workers, which regularly happened till the 40's. A short meditation on the theme 'Human Rights', a related gospelreading and time of reflection. A moment of inspiration, rest and peace in busy and demanding life.

Meanwhile there will be served soup and bread.

The event is free of charge. If you're coming please click 'join' on this event page.

We're looking forward to see you on Sunday the 24th!
